The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU), the leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance for waterfront employers, announces that senior underwriter Crystal Jones has been named one of Inland Marine Expo’s (IMX) 40 Under 40 for 2020.
Now in its third year, the IMX 40 Under 40 award recognizes men and women under the age of 40 who have made outstanding contributions to the inland marine transportation industry in a variety of fields. The awards will be presented at the Inland Marine Expo September 29–October 1 in St. Louis.
“We are proud that Crystal’s leadership and commitment is being recognized by IMX," said Michael Lapeyrouse, president and CEO of AEU. “She is a valuable asset to our team not only because of her underwriting skills, but also her willingness to train, mentor and lead other members of the team."
Jones began her career in the maritime industry when she joined AEU in January 2011 as an underwriting assistant. Her strong ability to work with teams and solve complex problems led to her promotion to underwriter in 2013, and to senior underwriter in 2019. A licensed insurance producer, Jones also holds her CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) and CLCS (Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist) designations. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in sociology from the University of South Alabama.
